Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the milder winter so far.
Who has already replaced their OE Continentals for tires a bit more compatible with New York conditions? If you haven't, what have been your impressions with the Conti's on your Maverick in the snow?

I planned on replacing mine almost from day one, not to go substantially larger and more aggressive, but mostly more winter friendly. After the first couple inches of snow a while back, I knew I had made the right decision for myself.

I wouldn't run the Continentals. I ran Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails (235) all year round on my Bronco Sport and am doing the same thing with my Maverick. For winter driving I wouldn't go wider than 235. I think 225 would be better for Winter.

A late reply but here goes. I replaced the Continentals that came from the factory (Procontact TX) with Continental CrossContact LX25's. They were a highly rated tire. I satyed with the same size 225/65-17. Here are my impressions:

> for the first 300 miles they were a bit squirrely until they broke in a bit.
> The are a stiffer tire than the Procontacts . My Maverick seems a bit quicker off the line with them and steering is lighter.
> Traction is definitely better then the factory Procontacts.
> Gas mileage doesn't seem to be any better than the Procontacts even though the LX25's are an ecoplus design. To be fair though it is winter and mileage always drops a bit with the winter blend gas and such. I will have to see how they do when the weather warms up in the spring.
> They seem to get smoother the more miles I put on them. Think I have about 1400 miles on them now.
> Would I buy them again? I don't know. Just a little too stiff for my tastes. Again though it is winter. Maybe in the summer they will soften up more especially with more miles on them.
