This truck is like any other vehicle. There are things you can learn by experience.
Practice parallel parking several times and you'll eventually know from experience how far away from the vehicles in front of and behind you, really are.
I think it's time for my too-tall son to become a smart traffic cone for parking practice.
Centered not a problem - that fore/aft spacing though... (without camera for aft)
My 1st truck too, and compact was only reason it was considered.
See if he trusts me more than I would trust him (16 still learning).

What I find particularly disturbing and irresponsible is that these dealerships are advertising the 2024 Maverick XLT's as in stock and for sale when in reality they cannot be sold in their current condition. In my case I drove 80 miles today to purchase a truck optioned at the price point I could agree with (and color). They have known about the recall since September.I was told there should be a fix in January and that if I could wait they would sell it to me at the agreed upon price once fixed. I believe January is just a stalling tactic. Maybe this is their way of selling more Lariat's.

This is called bait and switch which is very misleading and fraudulent sales technique.

🤔
Why do you believe the government telling Ford. They can't sell XL and XLT model Maverick's a Ford or dealership stalling tactic?

A stalling tactic on the dealers behalf to salvage a potential sale by keeping me on the hook until January if I was willing to wait. I never mentioned the government nor Ford in my rant, just the dealers. It would be helpful if they posted online that you would not be able to take possession of said vehicle until a fix is done.

Ford had a goal.
Introduce the new Mavericks at $19,995.00 in honor of their 70s Maverick car that was introduced at $1995.00.
That meant everything had to be done on the cheap. Therefore everything except the Top Line Lariat model got Fords version of Windows 3.1 called Ford touch connect. A crappy not ready for Prime Time system.
They saved $100 tops per vehicle by going with sync crap, and now their recall will cost $200-300 per vehicle maybe slightly less. Much more if a hardware swap will be needed.

Worked out pretty well for them.

Just out of curiosity
What did the dealer say when you called them before you drove 80 miles to the dealership?

I called to ask if it was available, I was told it was. Perhaps the sales people and receptionist are not on the same page. The sales person apparently was not familiar with the recall situation until notified that the truck had been moved (presumably in September), although I find that hard to believe as she appeared to be quite knowledgeable about everything else.

The real question. Is Ford saying ANYTHING? And what happens if this fix isn't available In a few months? I'm betting Ford will try to talk those of us with a down payment on a 24 into taking a 25. I don't want the increased nanny gadgets, higher price and lower horsepower. I'll walk.

It's not surprising or new.
Dealership's seem to be ignorant of their own product line including news updates.
It was only 2 weeks ago Long McArthur moved their 90 XL & XLT Maverick's to the storage lot.

I have not read this anywhere...is the dealer just guessing or did this info come from their Ford rep?
Tim Bartz at Long McArthur Ford did a Maverick Monday Youtube video about the hold on 24 XL and XLt's about a week or ten days ago. I don't have time this moment to seach but Tim, as usual in his clear and informative manner, explained the problem and the hold.

Mine was ordered on 8/07/24, built on 11/24/24, and was
shipped yesterday 12/11/24
Mine was ordered and received in 2023.

Consider yourself fortunate.
A LOT of others have not been and have had problems, including me. Ford chose to take a slow-roll approach to finding a fix, for a Federally Mandated Safety Feature.
It's not up for debate whether it's needed, wanted, whether someone will ever use it. Because they've been backing up for 110 years without a backup camera.
It's s a mandated required safety device just as horns, turn signals, brake lights, seat belts, airbags....etc.

The government decided to kick Ford in the ass with a $169,000,000.00 fine and told Ford they couldn't sell any of the affected Maverick's until they were fixed.
Below are some threads concerning the problem one of them is from 2022.

Maybe, back in 2023 Ford should not have laid off software engineers.
I wonder if 169 million would have paid their salaries?

Credit NBC:
According to recent reports, Ford has been laying off software engineers as part of a larger cost-cutting measure, primarily affecting engineering roles across its U.S. and Canadian operations, including those working on both internal combustion and electric vehicle projects, as the company restructures under its "Ford+" plan; these layoffs are aimed at managing costs during the transition to electric vehicles.
Thx for the info.
