Great site, thanks for having me aboard.
Bought the wife....ok I cant lie, I wanted it too, a gently used 2022 XL. 2.0 turbo. Perfect little truck for her needs around the farm. 31k on the clock, dealer made us a great deal. I ordered an ARE cap for it, threw a set of decent snows on and its been perfect.
Just two questions-
On cold start, the engine is noisier than id expect. Calms down a little bit when its warm. Definitely engine noise. Sounds like a solid roller valve train on a big block race engine. Normal Maverick stuff or am I an outlier?
Stereo is quite good, but occasionally when using bluetooth it almost sounds staticky. Turn the volume up, it goes away. Like a dirty pot if there are any guitar players here. Basically a non issue, but if there were someone with the same experience id love to know about it.
Lastly, this is a 91+ octane truck correct?
Thanks a lot

What you're hearing at the start is a high pressure fuel pump. It's normal.

For the fuel, you'll get maximum performance in terms of horsepower and torque with premium, but you can run 87+ if you don't care about that.

Since I have the 2.0L myself, the cold starting is normal. Modern day fuel injectors make a lot of noise. I can't answer about the stereo issue because I have a Lariat which has the upgraded B&O sound system. I will say that it has issues of its own regarding connectivity. Sometimes the screen displays the song info with the play bar in action but no audio. Or sometimes the audio skips, kind of like when you hit a scratch on a CD back when cars had CD players. But they have been few and far between. I would say the incidences you're having are nothing to worry about.

I would keep an eye out on your rear view camera since the 22-24 Maverick XL and XLTs are under a nationwide camera freeze recall. It's gotten to the point where there's a stop-sale on any new 24 Mavericks left on the market. To make matters worse, there's no fix for it even three months after its announcement. Just be on the lookout if your camera does freeze or displays a message saying something like, "backup camera unavailable." But if I were you, I would stick to doing what we were taught in driver's ed and look behind you, use your mirrors and windows. Don't rely on the camera.

Welcome! Guitar player here. I’m too new to comment on some of this. My 24 is a little noisy. I’ve heard this is normal. Enjoy your truck. These things are great.

I have a 2022 Ecoboost with 30,000 miles. Never unusually noisy at startup, down to as low as 0 degrees F. That said, I remember thinking about what a noisy engine the Maverick ecoboost is in general - no under hood insulation on my XLT.

If you google "cold start noise ecoboost", you'll get a lot of videos for the older 2 liters, as well as the larger twin turbos. I haven't seen anything specifically on the Maverick. I generally ignore the older ecoboost videos, because Ford has constantly updated and improved the engine over time. A good example is older engine leaks in the intake manifold that no longer happen.

Example video found by Google search...

Hello and welcome to MTC. Congratulations on your Maverick. I can't comment on the noise it's pretty quiet especially with no sound insulation. I don't notice any knocking etc with using 87 octane, seems to run great on it. Also ran great during the summer heat that can cause pre ignition to cause knock. I would highly suggest trying 87 octane and see for yourself or how yours run on it. Hope you and the wife enjoy the truck.

Also I opted for a hard trifold tonneau cover. Had a cap on the F150. I didn't enjoy not having the use of the rearview mirror. Also to much BS if transporting stuff higher than the cap allowed. For me this tonneau cover is actually working better than I anticipated. The few times I needed, extra room I was able to fold it up without removing it to accommodate the load I was hauling.

Anything huge I use a trailer. Wonder if yours have the optional 4k tow. If you have a farm, that option helps tremendously, or worth it's weight in gold.

As others have mentioned the noise is probably normal, yes the stereo & blue tooth does have some issues (perform resets helps for awhile by holding power & forward at same time until screen blacks out). The manual does say 87 is fine but recommends premium for towing or hot weather (many opinions on here but it’s your choice - I have over 100k miles on mine and have only used 87 since new). Hope you enjoy your new 2 u maverick.

Coming from my hemi ram with an aftermarket exhaust our maverick sounds like a sewing machine! Lol. I tow multiple things, 3100 lb boat, sxs, twin snowmobile trailer, have always used 87 octane with no issues for the past 2 years.

I've have been driving a FX4 AWD 2.0 for almost 3 years and have never used anything but 87, no issues. As for radio I have issues too not much you can do just make sure you have the latest software it gets better after updated software but don't think its ever going to be perfect. Engine noise is normal as long as you have oil and goes away when warned up or less noticeable. Keep a eye on, I've locked myself out of vehicle with it running, they say its my fault by hitting the lock lever getting out but don't thing I am, I always keep a window open now when getting out of vehicle with key inside and running even though I have a keypad.

that's a little unusual.

bluetooth can be affected by interference or saturation (pretty much the same thing), but it wouldn't be fixed by turning up the volume.

I have heard blown speakers before that sounded raspy at low volume and better at mid volume, then completely terrible at high volume. is that what you have?

check the tone controls and make sure bass isn't maxed out by the previous owner or someone test driving it. (that sounds like hell and is a great way to blow a speaker when playing loud, also.)

If your going to keep the truck for around 5 more years, I would get an extended warranty from Granger, (or the dealer you bought from) price both, it's transferable, and will more then pay for itself if you, or the next owner needs it.
