Received my OBD interface unit today and tried it on my Focus. It can do all the things my 2000 dollar IDS software and interface device from Ford could do. I am very pleased with the performance of this system. So glad I heard about it from this group. Thank you so much!

I got the vLinker FS from Amazon. I just downloaded and installed the forscan software and then plugged the tool into the USB port on the computer and it lit up as the little pamphlet stated it should without having to download any kind of drivers. I then went out and plugged it into my car and told it to attach and it was cool. I am a retired Ford tech and used the IDS everyday for many years, I bought my own system so I didn't have to wait around to use the shops equipment. When I saw that it could run all the same tests as the IDS on the engine boy was I tickled. IDS can't even talk with the newest vehicles, they have to use the new FDRS which is a real pain so that makes me like the forscan even more!

I also got the Vlinker FS BT but haven't had time to tinker with the ForScan yet.

I have been running Car Scanner (android) to monitor the car's functions like the hybrid battery. I was wondering what other features are worth adding to the gauges? I do leave it plugged in all the time since I got it.. just don't forget to disconnect it from the app.

I love ForScan. The only drawback that some have with it is that it is created and maintained by some random person in Russia. I don't say that to be racist or ethnocentric or anything. Just know some folks are a bit uncomfortable running software on their vehicle that is homegrown by some random guy (or gal) who is in a country often on our "naughty" list when it comes to hacking US infrastructure. I use ForScan and am not super concerned about it. But worth mentioning.

I got a vLinker FS from Amazon, but for some reason it will not connect to the ECU.


I've tried Car Scanner and Torque PRO, neither will connect. I can't try Forscan

Also can't seem to find the vLinker from my laptop. No idea what that's about..

Anyone have any suggestions?
