My 2022 XLT Hybrid was entered by someone a few months ago. The passenger side door was left ajar. The alarm didn't sound and there was no sign of forcible entry. The intruder rifled through the glove box and console. Nothing was taken because I don't leave things of value in the truck. I guessed that I forgot to lock the truck, but that is very unlike me.

It happened again a couple of weeks ago. On that second go around the console and glove box were closed. The sunglass holder was left open. That time, I was certain that I had locked the truck. I have developed a habit of locking the truck on my Fordpass App every night.

This morning, I found another Maverick with its front passenger side door ajar. The console lid was open and some things had been tossed around. It was right around the corner from my house. This is happening in a densely populated neighborhood in Baltimore. If an alarm goes off, someone hears it.

Obviously, some goofball with electronic skills has a fetish for Mavericks. Can anyone suggest a remedy?

🤔 That's terrible.
That is the reason I hide any remote controls.

Do you have the package to include keyless entry?
Or standard remote unlock?

Key stored on outside wall if the former?

ETA:
Might want to test that Fordpass app Lock process - leave keys in house where they'd normally be.

Hate to find out some bug with app lock causes passenger door to unlock.

I am guessing that since you have been around since 2021 that you are the original/sole owner of the truck?

I only ask because you do have to remove previous users on the app if you buy your truck used, for example. I had to boot the previous owner of my truck.

would be a strange coincidence if the thief previously owned his maverick and the other one that he saw with the door open.

Agree, but we have zero facts about "the other one." For all we know, that truck was stolen and left there, or maybe the owner left his door unlocked, etc. I like to rule out what I can control first, and then speculate.

...Or, maybe these trucks really are easily hackable, and Baltimore is the leading edge of an incoming TikTok car-burglary trend.

Locks are just for honest people and there are several ways now that the criminal element can access almost every vehicle. That’s why police recommend not to leave any items of value in your vehicle.

I think i may have your answer... this same thing happened to me in that the passenger door doesn't always lock when activated by the key fob... I'm guessing it'd be the same with the app (same mechanical/ electrical system). I happened to be a little o.c.d. when I'm leaving my truck in the parking garage for an extended period of time so I manually check all the doors and box lock... that's how I found out as I locked the doors and then did my o.c.d. check (lol)! Now, I check everytime. Has happened twice to me ... always the passenger side door (once the front, once the back). Impossible to replicate on demand for dealer.

It might also be possible for someone to connect to the vehicle's CAN bus through some externally accessible connector and command this. Seems a lot of effort to expend for what they're doing...

I traded in my Kia Sportage on the Maverick because of the "Kia Boyz" theft ring (there are videos on line). They are so easy to steal. My daughter's friend had her Kia stolen and my daughter's Hyundai also has the same vulnerability. Kia suggested to us to buy a steering wheel lock. Possibly the same issue exists with the Mav but the mfg co will not do something until there is a class action law suit.

If you have keyless entry, then the only solution is an RFID bag for your keys.

does he have the key pad code, either the original or the programed one?
