Looks like fx4 isn't an option at all for lariat trim. Not even the EB engine. Why is that?

Probably limited uptake. On the '22-24 XLT the FX4 is a fairly cheap way to get the bigger productivity/dash screen and some "off road" options but since the Lariat already has the bigger screen and isn't really aimed at people who'd go off-road I don't think Ford sold that many with the package.

Now that Intelligent Access and push to start is standard on XLT, just order a XLT w/Lux.

well, yes and no. yes I do agree that push to start would make me a lot happier with XLT and many others probably feel the same. I'm certain it was left off XL because Ford already takes more XL orders than they want to build.

you give up the B&O sound system, which is better than base but not that impressive until you upgrade the front speakers. you give up Adaptive Cruise Control, which is huge. you give up the vinyl 'ActiveX' seats, which personally I view as a win. I don't like how hot they get in the summer, although sweat and other stuff wipes off relatively easily and they are comfortable. you give up the LED DRL headlights which... I'll be honest, I love the look of, but functionally, they do nothing at all.

it is also weird to me that Lariat can't have FX4, and I would agree with the cynical opinion that it's a thinly-veiled disguise to push people into Tremor. combine this with a Lariat now having 19s stock, it's pretty damn annoying if someone wants a 4K tow with ACC and to go soft-roading. I think the best option at that point is either get an aggressive A/T at the start and dump the factory all-season tires, or sell the 19" wheels and tires complete and buy some 17s. if you shop smart you can get a great deal on 17s like I did. I think then you still don't have skidplates, but there are good aftermarket skid plate options now, which was not a thing when I got my first Mav over 2 years ago.

OP probably already knows this... these are all ecoboost of course.
XLT with FX4, 4k towing, mandatory XLT lux: $36,335
No ProTrailer, no ACC, no B&O, cloth seats. Aluminum skidplates and 225/65-17 semi-offroad tires (Scorpion does not perform like the Tremor tires)

Lariat with 4k towing: $38,570
ProTrailer, ACC, no skidplates, 225/55-19 all-season tires
^^ call it $1500 to swap the 19s for all-terrain 17s: total $40,070
^^^ could spend similar / slightly less for 19" all-terrain (225/55, 235/55 or 245/50 all good options)

Tremor: $42,085
ProTrailer, ACC, skidplates, 1" lift and better shocks, only rated for 2k towing, real all-terrain 235/65-17 tires.

I'm going with option B and skipping skidplates, but if you want one, Rival is $300.

Yeah the lack of b&o and acc on the XLT is definitely a deal breaker!

I'm also planning to go with option b. But is there any concerns if I do that with a hybrid engine?

the stock 17 and 19s, except on FX4 and Tremor, are primarily chosen for low rolling resistance and low weight to optimize mpg.

with an average all-terrain tire, you'll take a mpg hit on an ecoboost at interstate speeds (75-80) around 2mpg. I don't know what the impact is on a hybrid for sure, but I'd assume similar.

Having now owned both an XLT w/ cloth-denim seats, and now a Lariat w/ Active-X, I could go either way. Certainly, Active-X is easier to clean, XLT-cloth is cooler in summer.

As far as ACC, I'm on the fence. Interesting feature, but it operates so seamlessly that I find myself looking down at the speedo to see that I've lost 5-10mph when behind someone.

FX4 has always been frustrating. I wanted FX4 (mainly for hill descent and better shocks) on my 04 Mav Lariat EB AWD 4K, but that meant no BAP and dealing with the Vinyl Blue/Brown Buster Brown Bowling Shoe interior. Had to choose 1 or the other.

The current FX4s and Tremors also have a plate on the evap canister above the felt, which is useful to have off-road.

Just discovered this thread as I'm currently waffling between all three trims.

I really don't want to sacrifice the luxury upgrades with the XLT again and I'm really pissed they took away the rear slider.

I'm thinking Lariat and then just adding some decent all terrains for the few times I might need more grip. I'm afraid I might miss the wildpeak AT3Ws I added to my FX4. Can you put solid all terrains on these 19" rims? I wasn't thrilled about the big wheels, but the styling is much nicer than the blacks on my 23 fx4.

As much as I love the better angles, the orange accents, and the included luxury or the Tremor... I don't love the black interior (certainly not with that blue) and the 2k tow limit. Also don't love the price.

It seems no one mentioned the tow hooks. Does anyone use these? I never came close to that type of scenario and don't intend to with a vehicle like the Maverick (in any trim). I'll be honest, I love these simply aesthetically. I had intended to paint them matching fx4 red on my XLT and I'm bummed I won't have that option on the Lariat.
