There is a certain stretch of highway just outside a nearby town known as the "drag race". It is the last red light before a 1/2 mile straight stretch of 4 lane non-residential road , where it is kind of a daily thing after work where traffic competes to see who can make it to the cutoff point back to 2 lanes at the end of this stretch . Wife and I happened to be side by side at the light ,when she attempted to "smoke " me in the Taurus against my Mav. Hybrid. I was impressed as the floored Mav. came into it and passed her. I know ...a 2013 Taurus SE is no racecar, but at almost 300 hp it can hold it's own against a lot of less capable sedans. Mav. impressed me when floored-I guess the electric kicked in with the gas motor..........still a fun ride even at 45+ mpg .:)

I don't know if "impressed" is the right word for me.
"Adequate" is probably what I'd say.
But that's a good thing.

I'm coming from a 100hp (about 100lb torque too) sub compact.

I haven't "punched" my hybrid Mav yet. I'm afraid I'll break the CV axles! Just kidding! I bought the hybrid for fuel economy so I drive easy. I have my 67 Shelby GT500 when I need to put my foot into it! :)
I will say I am impressed with the Mav, it scoots along pretty well as far as I am concerned.

I'd have to agree with adequate. The best way to describe the maverick is it's not a fast car, but it's fast for it's price point. Most entry level crossover and hatchbacks are doing 0-60 in like 10 seconds. The maverick hybrid does it in about 7, not bad.

This is about the same as our 2017 explorer, which is based on the Tarus chassis from 2011 to like 2019. The engine in our explorer isn't bad, does around 300 hp, very reliable V6 in the Tarus, and explorer as long as the water pump holds up.

Not impressed, but content. I am impressed by the way it pulls a brick like trailer up a hill though.

Considering at one time I thought my '89 LX 5.0 was fast with 225HP, I'd say the I'm impressed with how well the Maverick pulls. I wasn't expecting much with 192HP, but that immediate electric torque compensates enough to put a smile on my face.

I'm impressed with mine especially in sport mode.. I have had a 2001 mustang gt (highly modified), 2007 mustang gt (highly modified) and we had a 2023 Ecoboost mustang as a loaner back in June when my wife was getting some maintenance done on her Bronco Sport. I can say I'm more impressed with the hybrid then I was with the Ecoboost mustang. I'm sure the mustang is faster but it didn't seem it and the transmission sucked. Maybe they should put a eCVT in the mustang. Also the hybrid is quicker than a lot of full size trucks so it's fun to get off the line faster than them!

Power to weight ratio seems decent.
But, it must be the electric torque.

'22 Jeep Renegade 1.7L = 25.9 lbs/hp

'22 Tacoma 2.7L = 25.8 lbs/hp

'22 Colorado 2.5L = 22.4 lbs/hp

'22 Maverick Hybrid 2.5L lbs/hp = 19

'22 F-250 6.2L = 17.5

'22 Maverick Ecoboost FWD = 14.4

'20 Mini Cooper Supercharged = 10

Porsche 911 = 6.4

'20 Aston Martin V12 = 5.2

I am very happy with the instant acceleration/throttle response and high mpg on the Maverick Hybrid.

Previous trucks to compare was a 2019 Nissan Frontier 4 cylinder, 6 foot bed, and it was scary slow. Press the gas pedal to the floor to get on a highway and pray you make it up to speed. Got about 20 mpg. About $22k new (lowest of base model).

Prior to that was a 2018 F-150, 3.5L twin turbo XLT. Different beast, but too fast for a truck that big in sport mode.
Still got 20 mpg. More than double Maverick price (About $55k new).

Recently drove a rental 2023 Tacoma V6. Looks great from the outside, but it has zero b@lls. So slow. Press the gas hard just to inch forward slowly. And about 20mpg. No thanks. (Unknown price, but glad I drove one to realize I will not buy a Tacoma after that very poor performance).

I don't tow, so Hybrid all the way!
