I have seen a few posts with similar issues to mine, was looking to see if anyone had a resolution through their local dealership...

My truck is a 2022 Maverick Hybrid Lariat, 20k miles, pending the 3 most recent recalls (my dealership was booked out pretty far).

My truck decided to throw a bunch of warnings at me while driving on the highway and switch to limp mode right away, eventually even limp mode didn't work and I couldn't move at all. Thankfully, I was already on the side of the road at that point.

The error that threw initially when the acceleration stop was:
Will engage in gear selected at low speed

When this warning popped up, it felt like the engine popped out of gear and the accelerator stopped registering input.

When I stopped, I shut the engine off and tried to start again and a bunch of warnings popped up:
Pre-Collision Assist not available
Service AdvanceTrac
Service vehicle soon
Hill Start Assist not available

I shut the engine off and waited a few minutes before trying again and it eventually allowed me to crawl home. The weird thing was, when pressing the accelerator down, the truck would slow down, but letting off of it, the truck would speed up. Really bizarre. Thankfully brakes worked fine.

I debated towing the truck, but I really need my vehicle right now and if it is in the shop, I need a rental or something like that immediately.

This happened twice in the same week.

I have an appointment tomorrow with my local dealership, hopefully they can figure it out AND give me some mode of transportation if the fix takes longer than a day.

What year is yours please. Any pending/completed recalls? Mileage?

Did you have any PCM reprogramming done in Feb or March?

No, would that fix this issue? I am supposed to be getting that done tomorrow
Some software reprogramming for some recalls in that tune period caused a similar issue. Re-updating PCM was the solution.

For most people, a PCM update (and some other related modules) solves the problem. I hope it will be that simple in your case too!

This happened to me twice 6 weeks apart, once in April and once in May. If its only happening to you now then you are lucky that enough complaints came before you and Ford has had enough time to recognize the issue and research options. The recall released in May will theoretically address the issue. But Ford can't 100% guarantee it because this issue can't be reproduced at will. So whatever the solution you are still driving off the lot hoping for the best. But this latest recall PROBABLY addresses it. It's been about 4 weeks since my last incident and the update was applied with me still hoping for the best.

It is generally not recommended to drive the car around in limp mode any more than you have to. You don't know what damage could occur. As frustrating as it is I would tow it.

The software fix is pretty quick and straight forward but since this is a sketchy issue most dealers will want to keep it and drive it for a day before giving it back to you. So you may or may not get your car back quick. But at least now Ford does have some standing options opposed to me in April when they just shrugged and sent me on my way.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

This is a safety issue. You're driving down the freeway, presumably within 5 mph of the speed limit, in traffic, and the car suddenly goes "limp". That's an invitation to an accident as far as I'm concerned. Unexpected rapid slowing/stopping on the highway = a high probability of getting hit from behind.

Am I reading this wrong?

This exact same thing happened to me yesterday, luckily I was not on the highway, but I was driving on a main street and several cars behind me started honking. I had the truck towed to dealer and the dealer says there's no lights now and when they test drove it for 30 miles there was no issue. I also had another issue where when braking the whole truck shakes. I asked the dealer to drive again and check for the braking issue as well.

Have you checked to see if your truck has any recalls? This sounds very much like symptoms from trucks that got a bad software updates last year from a recall. Then those trucks got a recall on the recall software update.
