I found the truck to be very noisy at 65+ mph and a 15 mph crosswind. The noise was so loud I had to use foam ear plugs to listen to the radio. My previous car was a Transit Connect with a lot more windows and it was a lot quieter. I like the truck, it rides nice and is comfortable and gets great gas mileage. The road noise is not excessive and the engine noise is not a problem but the wind is amazingly loud.

You got the base model which usually has less sound deadening. My XLT is not excessively noisy at speeds of 65+. I am sure the Lariat would be even better.

Soundscreen windshield dumbs it down i get lots of wind noise at ~80mph. (Lariat)
But i also listen to music most of the time at 15-17. I turn it off every few drives to make sure i'm not hearing too many weird noises.

any vehicle that has our door shape will have wind noise with side winds. all 3 oof my vehicles do it. has nothing to do with trim level.

I can tell you it has nothing to do with trim level. I removed my door panels to install sound deadening and the Lariat doesn't have any in the doors from the factory.

Did the sound deadening panels make a difference that would be worth taking the vehicle apart to achieve?

Probably my biggest current gripe with my Maverick is the whooshing wind around the driver's window. I can't stand noise pollution, and it gets worse when crosswinds are present. I even moved my speaker balance to the left some to drown out as much noise possible. I may try some additional stripping before pulling the panels and soundproofing inside the doors.

My experience: 22 EB Lariat and 24 hybrid Lariat. I don't drive over 70mph very often. Both are acceptably quiet to me at highway speeds. I think the laminated windshield helps. That and the Michelin A/S tires. I was willing to pay $10k more than an XL for that plus the other ammenities.

If I had an XL or XLT and needed to replace my windshield, I would specify the laminated version.

I looked at some early production XL's. They did not have the black foam sound deadener in the front fender just ahead of the door hinges. I think that may help.

I do not hear wind noise around my door seals or windows. They seal well. I will speculate that the side mirrors which do not appear to be very aerodynamic generate noise exponentially as vehicle speed increases above 65mph.

I pilot different Cessna 172's owned by a flying club. Each has a different sound; wind, engine etc. at any given speed. I try to find that speed to better enjoy the journey. I tend to drive that way too. Stay legal and stay safe.

The only difference is some luxury packages have a 'quiet' windshield.
My 2023 Lariat with lux came with the quiet windshield

It made a difference in outside noise making it in the car overall. Now I can hold a conversation in the car at a lower tone of voice. It also helped with the sound quality of the B&O system. I can turn it up to 30 and it still plays clear with no rattles. I used 4 sheets in each front door and 3.5 sheets in rear doors. I just did the doors but will continue to spread it around the vehicle till it runs out. Sheets were 16"x10" and 80mil thick. Got a box of 34 sheets on amazon for about $65 bux. I used kilmat.

I have no complaints about noise after I installed the low profile wind deflectors on each door.
Ordering the same style for the wife's new Bronco Sport.

I live in Squamish BC (named by First Nations to mean Mother of Wind) and it gets pretty windy on the highway. I can hear (and feel) the wind but in no way is it excessive.
