This is timely....Just today I was sitting eating lunch looking out at my Mav thinking....I should switch to black lug nuts, it would look better.....

Along with suggestions here, I'll see what I can dig up..... I wonder if all the (aluminum) wheel types use the same spec lug nut? The seat spec is the critical part.
I'd be interested to see what you find as well.

Same rims on mine... huh. Looks good!

Can you tell a difference between the rim and the lugs? Like are the lugs glossy looking compared to the rim?

In my opinion they match identical. Maybe ford was installing the lug nuts that they had at the time it was coming down the assembly line.😅😂🤣

Update:

Installed and manually torqued yesterday. I placed a folded dryer sheet inside the socket to protect the finish while torquing.

No chipped paint. Fingers crossed no rust will update once the rainy season starts.

UPDATE October 31st:

I had high hopes for these but they chipped when removing so will likely rust. I’d be weary of buying. Just wanted to caution as I recommended them.

Looks very good! May just say screw it and put the black lugs I bought on today. Then see if i can find some matte finished caps.

Would love to know more about these. It seems much more likely they are a dealer swap or tire shop swap or something like that. AFAIK, the only black lugs Ford has produced came on the GT and they are available through the Ford Performance Catalog for about $200 for the set. Don't believe they have ever actually put black lugs on anything else.

I have black Gorilla lugs myself and have been happy with them. Best bet is to get yourself a lug nut protector socket and use it. The better ones will have plastic inserts to keep the lugs from getting scratched, but at a minimum they should protect your wheels as well. Picture for example - lots of companies make them.

Did not know they made these. Looks like most protect the rims and not the lug nuts. I’ll update if I find one with the lug protection

It does both- as best as possible. That's why I mentioned the plastic inserts too. Nothing will be 100% when you're dealing with 150 foot pounds of torque. I've been using these for years on all different vehicles and am pretty happy with them- I have yet to have any damage to wheels or chipped black paint off lugs.

Is it true that the oem chrome lugnuts are 2 piece? And that they tend to swell causing difficulties to remove?
