Looks like an excellent job. I wonder if it would hinder a heated steering wheel From functioning properly

The factory heated wheel already has a cover, not exposed plastic like the non-Lux package trucks.

i have a aftermarket Ford logo steering wheel cover and what ive observed is that the steering wheel still heats up, but....it takes considerably longer to work its way thru the cover to your hands. it's not that big a deal for me but your mileage may vary.

Your observation with the additional covering over the heated steering wheel, is what I had suspected. I appreciate the feel of real leather, not so much the fake leather. Or as my sales rep called it, vegan leather.

Well I guess I consider myself very lucky . I have a 22XLT lux package with co pilot 360 and before Ford got cheaper my Maverick came with the Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel . As far as heat it gets hot fast have to turn it off in just a couple of minutes. I'm sorry for other Maverick owners that Ford got cheap and took several of standard options off of the Maverick. That is why I sold my New 23 and kept my 22 it's a better Truck .

For those of us with large hands, the factory wheel is a little thin or narrow. I have a stretch over cover currently, just to make it thicker. I don't believe the heating element would overheat, contact between the two materials should pass the heat along. Air is actually a lousy heat conductor, direct contact should pull more heat off the factory material.

Think of it this way, how does a double pane window provide insulation in your home?....it's the air gap between the panels, if they were sandwiched together more heat or cold would pass between the panes.

How thick is that material, is it comparable to a pull/stretch over?

If you

If have the heated steering wheel that may not be a good idea. Could cause the element to overheat and malfuction.
Thank you mine does not have heated steering wheel, it was just the basic plastic one.

Regards!

I've had both on my Maverick and I think they synthetic leather feels much better than the regular leather. I wound up giving the real leather wheel to my father and installed it in his truck.
