The issue is with parts movement (Teamsters), and union trucking companies that move vehicles from the rail yards to the dealership lots. Some dealers have in the past picked up vehicles at the rail head.

I grewup near poverty. Shopping at thrift stores, food banks and government handouts. My dad's job went union when I was 5 and it was night and day. He was able to provide a decent lifestyle for his family and provide 4 of his kids us with college educations. Everyone except ceos benefit from strong unionsNo one in a non-union corporate world job would expect these kinds of pay raises and reduced work weeks with full pay. Its no wonder cars and trucks cost what they do these days. You can thank the unions. I grew up in a family where the Teamsters called the shots. And strikes resulted in lost wages that were never regained with a new contract. I've got a build scheduled for Oct 16th but who knows when I might see that thanks to the brotherhood of the UAW and Teamsters.
Unless the union is incompetent. The workers at Hostess striked the company into closure.I grewup near poverty. Shopping at thrift stores, food banks and government handouts. Was one of those employees!Unless the union is incompetent. The workers at Hostess striked the company into closure.
And yet you can still buy Twinkies. So bankruptcy has turned into a business plan.Unless the union is incompetent. The workers at Hostess striked the company into closure.
Better get the price locked in now. If they get what they are asking for the raise will be passed on to us the customer. I get what they are doing. I am a union steamfitter and won't be crossing and lines but If ford raises prices anymore I will have to look for other auto makers I refuse to pay premium price for mid style vehicles.Gee, The UAW ONLY wants a 46% wage increase. I was once in the UAW, not that I ever wanted to be, and the company I worked for shut down in August, 33 years ago. Hunting seasons start opening up in September, so they are in no hurry to get back to work. Figure out how much a new Ford, GM or Chevy vehicle, made under UAW contract, will cost in the future.
Yet the company still makes billions of dollars of profit. Seems like they can afford to pay for these, just fine. What is not reported is exactly how much a UAW worker with some seniority makes. I’m referring to full medical, prescriptions, wages, pension benefits, and other compensation. I read that Ford costs for medical insurance and all prescription coverage, inc Viagra totals ONE BILLION per year. Seems like a lot of money for workers that are just assembling parts and vehicles. How difficult would it be if those workers tried to make that kind of money somewhere else.
That happened to a local auto repair shop. The union steward retired and the new steward talked the employees into demanding a hugh pay raise. They wouldn't budge on their demands so the owners closed the shop.Unless the union is incompetent. The workers at Hostess striked the company into closure.
Yeah lets hit the American economy while it's down as we head from recession to depression. Lets impede the Covid recovery as much as possible. This could cost the economy billions of dollars. Great strategy. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/bu...auto-companies-ford-general-motors-rcna103725Mine is currently on the production line. It really depends on if the Hermosillo plant is effected by the strikes (my guess is no) and if the teamsters refuse vehicles at non-striking plants or otherwise refuse to move them from yards (seems not according to press). There's no strike line to cross in this case.
That said, I commend the teamsters for standing alongside their UAW brethren.
That is agonizingly close! I feel your angst all the way from up here in Ontario Canada.Mine is sitting in transit — about 10 miles from the dealership, and Ford chat understandably wouldn't comment if deliveries would be affected. If the strike takes place and my truck is not at the dealership, I will contact them and see if they can “just get it.”
