What are folks doing about bug smacked windshields?

My Mav's windshield always looks like a bug cemetary after a drive.

How about front hood deflector? Do those help?

Obviously washing too. I spray the windshield down about every other day now. I'm asking for other options.

How about windshield washer fluid that's better at removing bug smack? I have generic blue stuff for the fluid and it can't clean the windshield.

I live in Florida where during lovebug season you have to drive by radar because your view gets blocked by a thick coat of black bug splat. Windex, a scrubbing sponge and a lot of elbow grease is what does it.

Use vinegar, dilute it in a 1:1 ratio with water, apply it and let the bug guts soak, then wipe off with a clean microfiber cloth. Other thoughts to consider: Rain-X X-treme Clean and Rain-X Bug Remover Windshield Washer Fluid

OK, I'll look for that version of Rain-X to fill my windshield tank.

Interesting that vinegar does the trick. I don't mind the smell ... it's outside anyways.

Thx!

Yea, Ytube recommended a guy's video who tested several windshield cleaners and basically came to the same conclusion. Mesh sponge and elbow grease. I'll still switch to Rain-X too. Can't hurt.

My Maverick windshield seems to smack more bugs than previous trucks. I’m going with a front mounted bug deflector. Several on the market now.
Any thoughts on best ones?

I would vote the Ford/Lund version on ford accessories site

Yikes. Thought it was bad out here in Arkansas/Texas during early summer.

I read that Ford's OEM one is a taped / glued on version. Not sure I'd be comfortable with that on my clear coat paint, Midwest winter freeze/thaw cycles are harsh on adhesives, and there's probably fading over the long haul.

Poking around on this, owners have tried 2 other hood deflectors. Here they are:
EGR: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/egr-bug-deflector-installed.27847/
AVS: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/avs-bugflector-ii-bug-shield.14797/

I'm leaning towards the AVS Bugflector 2.

Plus Rain-X fluid and mesh sponge. Attack from multiple fronts.

Yup, it's something I've noticed with cars over time. The last time I had this much bug smack was from a Jeep Wrangler. I just can't stand the Mav's buggy windshield anymore.

Wow! How about tear offs like NASCAR cars have? Might protect from chips also.
Not only is this bad, but if you don't get them off ASAP, they will eat your paint. Also clog your radiator, increasing the chance of overheating. Fortunately, they only show up twice a year, May and September, and, at least in my experience, they haven't been as bad for several years now. Oh yeah, if you ride a motorcycle, they taste like sh*t, too.
