Guess im the only one who sees this as a safety hazard. Id never haul with the boards sticking out that far. You get rear ended and you and anyone in the truck is most likely dead. Not my thing.

get a F150Good job! I'm installing airbags on my maverick since i will be towing a boat and a camper which both weigh over 3500 lbs.
Already have a ram,needed a second tow vehicle.get a F150
how about twerking over speed bumps?Better not drive thru South Carolina. Squatting is illegal there.
I did this way too much in my ‘97 Ranger, still on the road!get a F150
With all that material sticking out behind the rear wheels it’s equivalent to more than 1300 lbs as far as squatting. Definitely not safe, if someone had run into those 4x4s, you would have been at fault even with the red flag.Weight was 1240lbs plus the weight of the bed extender. That was 28.66 lbs. So all together probably 1300.
Needs a 5th Wheel LOLI have hauled roughly 40-50 times since April 2022 with this great truck. Today I got it to squat pretty good. Adding on to our shed and needed the framing . The longest and heaviest were the structural 4x4x16. Helps to have so many tie downs.
Put it in tow, haul mode and it did great. Even the Menards guy at the yard stated you got it squatting.
Next week will be a trailer for the sheeting and fiber concrete boards.
Such a great Truck!
You had to know you were going to take some heat posting that photo! This forum is full of retired DOT officers, OSHA pr!cks, and old dudes who forgot about all the unsafe stuff they did in their time.Boards are on the bottom for the bed extender and also in case someone would happen to rear end my truck it wouldn’t be in their windshield. Instead it would hit their lower area of there vehicle.
No matter how or what you do with a transporting a load of lumber a few will always say something is wrong with how it is being transported.
Overloaded rear axle due to weight transfer off the front, but not over cargo weight limit. Still hard on the backend of the truck, and past the design limits. Front and rear axles have ratings too. But you got it home without breaking anything I assume.Weight was 1240lbs plus the weight of the bed extender. That was 28.66 lbs. So all together probably 1300.
