It was pricey but some where I saw a similar style switch panel that was 100% remote. With a receiver brain tucked elsewhere in the cab or under hood. Its a thought.Finished my switch panel this weekend and it drops right into the console. It's heavy enough that I don't think I'll need to attach it. The only thing I'll need to do is drill a small hole that can later be covered by the silicone tray if it 3ver gets taken out. Just need to run the eleven wires through the firewall.
Next, I'm waiting on parts to assemble 5 20 amp relay block with an 80 amp relay to cut off all the power when I shut off the vehicle.
My plan is for running lights, front fog, rear fog, underbody and front flood. Also I'm going to put running and turn signals in the fender badge and turn lights on the rear of the cab. I'm really liking the lights from Extreme Tactical Dynamics.
The switches ended up at about $100, wire and relays will bring it to about $350. Front lighting will be $350, rear $150, side $150 and underbody $30. That's a lot of money for novelty, but the thought of it all completed is pleasingIt was pricey but some where I saw a similar style switch panel that was 100% remote. Also super slick on the bedliner. I never even thought of that and wish I hadnt gone with the factory one after the cargo deal happened.
Just take one step at a time. Rather than install one set of lights at a time, I am trying to build it as I want it to be in the end. Once I get through the switches and relays I can tackle one set at a time. First will probably be the side markers in the fender badges. Can't wait to see your updates on this, this is exactly my plan just haven't had a chance to tear apart my daily driver just yet.
Thanks for the pics. I just got 3 cans to do the sides. I have a bed rug on the floor but wanted something to protect the sides, just in case, but didn't want black and was afraid any colored ones wouldn't match. Looks great!I used Duplicolor Clear Bedliner and am very impressed. I got 2 spray cans and a gallon to roll on. Rolling was terrible. Started drying almost instantly and ended up pooling and dripping a little but really isn't noticeable. I wish I had gotten 5 cans for 3 coats to spray. Overall I am happy with the result.
That does this feel like? Is it more slick or more gripey, how flexible? Will cargo slide?Duplicolor Clear Bed liner. Spray cans work best. I would say 5 cans would give 3 coats for a Maverick.
It dries pretty quick. 45 minutes between coats. It's kind of thin so multiple coats are the way to go. And it is stinky. Plenty of ventilation is necessary. I was surprised how little prep was needed according to the can. Clean it then use a paint prep degreaser. Masking makes a difference! Take the time with tape and paper. There are clear rubber dust particles in the spray that makes a nice, fine grippy surface. Multiple coats are necessary. And it stinks. Plenty of ventilation and a VOC mask are needed. That does this feel like? Is it more slick or more gripey, how flexible? Will cargo slide?
When I first saw that switch plate my brain said; Photon torpeados, sheilds, Warp Factor 8 and 10. Oh and Fog lights.
