People either love or hate steelies. You either like the utilitarian look or you think it looks like four spare tires. Personally I like the steelies and I am getting them on a Bronco as wellI went XL, because I wanted a basic truck. All the extra stuff isn't needed. The only complaint I have is the steelies are ugly. I plan to paint them black so I can live with it.
I can agree with that. Definitely a love/hate. I think some fresh paint will make them work for me. I wish I could have selected that as an option when ordering though!People either love or hate steelies. You either like the utilitarian look or you think it looks like four spare tires. I also got the XL knowing that i can change out the wheels and it looks the same as the XLT . PLUS I GOT THE 360 AND SPRAY IN BED LINER AND TOW HITCHThanks for the input. IMO if you don’t plan on reselling or leasing it boils down to options. The options (or lack of options on the XL) are designed to persuade customers to jump up trim levels.
I don’t think Ford wants to sell that many XLs. They exist so that Ford can show a low entry price. I do agree that this will be the volume Fleet trim level and I also suspect that XLs will be rare on dealer lots because of the low mark up. But if you are interested in a stripped down basic small truck, the XL is a screaming deal.
Maybe I'm a bad reader, but I thought you could get Cruise on an XL ??I wanted the XL for the price and steel wheels; however, I can’t live without cruise control, so I had to go with an XLT.
Not from the factory. Just XLT and Lariat.Maybe I'm a bad reader, but I thought you could get Cruise on an XL ??
I'd get some nice bolt-on wheel covers before I went the paint route. I think it would look better. Just MHO.I went XL, because I wanted a basic truck. All the extra stuff isn't needed. The only complaint I have is the steelies are ugly. I plan to paint them black so I can live with it.
I couldn't agree more - everyone else is getting sucked into the upgrade vortex. It's a great cheap truck, why pretend otherwise? Aftermarket everything except for the receiver hitch, thank you very much Ford!(Administrator, please delete if a similar thread already exists. The search function is not perfect (nor am I) and I may have missed it.)
This thread is for all things XL. I actually like the steelies, grill and interior the best on the XL in spite of the fact that it's the base trim.
Auto companies obviously want to upsell higher trim levels, which is perfectly fine with me, but I just don't want our little XL gem getting lost in the increased XLT and Lariat content and photos.
Here are two of my favorite XL photos saved from this forum.

I am getting the XLT but I thought that if I got the XL I would do the same as you said but add chrome beauty rings (that is if they still make them). I like that kind of look.I'm getting a Cactus Gray XL and I'm thinking of painting the wheels black and leave the caps silver. I'll decide once I see it in person.
I’ve seen some cheap take offs, how much did you buy for if you don’t mind?I had the opportunity to check out an lx in person love the interior color combo but to honest the steel wheels are horrible they are nothing like the bronco sport. Easy fix with the people selling the bronco sport wheels at a give away price I score a set already
I paid 300 with tires and sensors the guy just wanted them out of his way. And I got a second set from the wife’s bronco one is silver and the other is carbon greyI’ve seen some cheap take offs, how much did you buy for if you don’t mind?
thanks, seen some stuff around 400-500 with wheels but thinking I might hold out for cheaper or until some Mav takeoffs hit the market, really like the black XLT/FX4 and I imagine someone’s going to want something bigger than 17” but I’ll be happy with them.I paid 300 with tires and sensors the guy just wanted them out of his way. Bronco Sport doesn't have steel wheels on any trim so that why they are nothing like them.I had the opportunity to check out an lx in person love the interior color combo but to honest the steel wheels are horrible they are nothing like the bronco sport.
