I started a thread as my interior lights have not been coming on. I then posted in another thread about dead batteries.

This one seems be my exact issue. I just hope they let me show them this before they send me off.

There's 2 dead giveaway errors that are telling the mav owners you have a battery terminal connection problem, 1)deep sleep errors 2)massive fuel economy loss.

These conditions are tell-tale signs of the defect.

Disclaimer-not all the sleep errors are connection problems, first-turn off Ford pass so battery is not drained because of the software keeping circuits energized.

Now if you have both, you are a good candidate for the cable/connection problem.

So it could be a cable or a software issue. I do not have MPG issues so maybe mine is software.

I also installed a dash cam and Homelink mirror but that seems unlikely since they are on a transformer that disconnects when power is below 12.2v. Also it’s connected correctly to aux fuse.

I will disconnect them though over night and turn off Ford pass. We will see what happens.

Anyone know why the battery reads 12.6 at the battery and 11.8 at the jumper posts? Is that a sign of something specific?

edit: typo

The voltage drop would indicate a 120ish ohm load, 0.1 amp or 1 watt of energy being dissipated around the jumper points from the battery. Pretty high resistance of a battery cable.. but what do I know…

In the cabin, you know, that's a pretty good voltage differential, that would drain/not charge a battery.

I would look into it a little further, you fit the criteria and sounds like you have the connection defect.

In my opinion you got it.

Add our Maverick hybrid to the roll of those with a completely dead vehicle. Went to use it this morn and neither fob worked, no lights inside the vehicle, and so on. Checked all the connections to the underseat battery and the connector near the fuse box; all appear to be tight, and we have copper wiring to the terminals, not aluminum like some have stated. Put the trickle charger on it and will see if that at least charges it up enough to get to the dealer. And ordered a battery jumper pack that we will leave full time in the Mav going forward; surprised in my garage full of "stuff" that I never had one. Appreciate all the comments from everyone in this thread and elsewhere. If no one told y'all yet today - "You're the best"!

Might be worthwhile checking the voltage at the battery terminals vs the voltage at the jump start points.

Cheers.

Does anyone know what gauge wire it is that goes to the positive wire jumper point? I may have found an easy under 50 buck solution.

Our hybrid mav died last month at around 6100 miles. It died on a Sunday at a friend’s place. Jump started it, drove home, turned off the engine, and died again. Ford towed it to the dealer on Monday and they repaired the cable, got the car back on the Friday.

Did they replace the connector lug on this connection, I'm guessing?

(This is an update to my earlier post in this thread above)

Last week our Maverick hybrid was dead in the garage. I checked the wiring harness running from the 12V battery under the back seat to the connection under the hood; it appeared fine and unlike the aluminum wiring that some Mavericks had early on, ours is copper. Next I checked the connections on the 12V battery and they appeared good. Thinking the battery was drained somehow I hooked up a battery tender to it and left it on for a couple of days. After the battery tender was still showing red I removed the negative terminal cable to the battery and reattached the tender. After another day or so of no status change I said screw it and took the tender off, thinking I would call the dealership to pick it up. Went to reattach the negative terminal cable to the battery and everything worked! Something is likely draining our battery, either the Ford Pass app or something else. Took it to the dealership and they tried all kinds of tests, multiple starts over a couple of days, and found nothing. I have put a remote battery charger in the truck and if it continues to die I will at least be able to start the vehicle quickly, and will take it back to the dealer.
