Personally, I wanted AWD, that was a must have. I enjoy the power of the 2.0, MUCH quicker than I imagined. I am pleased with my choice.

Do you guys have the 4k tow as well or just the fx4 package? I’d like to pull a small pontoon from time to time. No need for pulling a camper as I have a super C that will tow the mav
My truck is fx4 awd without 4k tow package . bought off dealer had to take what I could get . had hitch for 2k towing but fx4 has heavier suspension and cooling system than a regular ecoboost . it works for me . if towing something north of 2k definitely get 4k tow package . get awd to launch and pull boat out of water

Def will be getting both, I was just curious what packages you had with that mileage. I haven’t even considered the hybrid as my intended use exceeds its limits. Coming from a 15 f150 5.0 is a huge change in a welcomed way for me. I still need to do truck stuff. Just not full-size truck stuff if possible.

Fx4 without 4k tow package has a slightly higher rear end rating . 4k towing might lose 1 mpg . it all depends how you drive it . I get 23 to 24 mpg city easy driving and 22 mpg spirited driving . no towing yet so no opinion . kicking in turbo definitely increases gas usage . only using 87 regular .

Have a XLT Hybrid...was concerned about excelleration....Not an issue at all, plenty of power.
Little concerned about trailering 1,200 lbs (trailer with large motorcycle) not an issue at all.

I love the 46 mpg....Unless you're doing a lot of 2.,000+ lbs of towing and a lot of off roading the Hybrid is a good choice. The Hybrid has a drive mode for pulling a trailer that brings the ICE in to provide more power, but I find the Normal/Eco mode is totally accurate. No matter how or where I drive it is consistently 43-47 mpg. Have done a lot of dirt roads on Hybrid with FWD and it easily handles the basic off-road stuff. Hybrid has a much smoother transmission.

So I keep going back and forth between the hybrid and Ecoboost.

I drive 70 miles a day so I would definitely benefit from the hybrid, but it seems that as more Ecoboosts get into owners hands the reported mileage isn't too bad on those either.

I know FWD with good tires works just fine in the snow, and we really don't get much snow to cause too many problems, but AWD would be nice just in case.

I also don't really need the 4k tow at this time, but again nice to have just in case.
I am averaging 48mpg with my hybrid and some days I can get the mileage up to 65 mpg if I drive all city miles. My highest so far was 67.5 mpg

Fwd 2.0 xl and could not be happier with my choice. I have a heavy foot in town 22mpg hyw is 30-31. The acceleration between the hybrid and 2.0 is huge, especially above 2 k rpm.

If it is hard to decide getting one of each like this actually makes sense if you would have spent the same on a big truck.

I don’t think it’s how frequently you do these things but whether you do them at all. If I pull a trailer over 2k only once a year, then a 4K eco boost is still needed. Eco boost is also a better choice if you don’t want to wait over a year to get your Maverick, extra power, etc. In the end, there’s both, so you get to choose and to each their own.

That's my personal take as well. Unless you regularly tow more than 2k pounds or frequently go off-road (more than just dirt roads to get to a campsite), the hybrid will suit 99% of the needs of most drivers and is the better choice.

I wouldn't pay 6K more for an occasional AWD when not needed 99% of the time. I did that with my Tacoma 4X4 -- in 6 years I used it once. Then I just tested.. turned it off and it went through the snow just fine - That completely changed my mind. I thought i would go on weekend trail trips - never did. I was too afraid to damage my truck or scratch it. That finally changed my mind. I don't need to pay for what I won't use. If the difference were 2K yea I'd pay for that. If the truck had a taller stance and looked more aggressive - yep I'd pay for that too to a point

Just my thoughts

Like most things, it comes down to budget/needs/wants specifically to you. Opinions & experiences of others are always fun to read about, but have zero impact to your situation.

If you have the budget for things (2.0, AWD, etc..) you want, but don't necessarily need, why wouldn't you? If the budget is tight, stick with the needs.

There are no bad choices here, but there is a more appropriate one. Some thoughtful analysis on your part should make it pretty clear.

A touch over 18K on my 2.0 AWD with zero problems, great ride with the 4-wheel independent suspension, hand calculated averaging 29mpg, this is fine for me.

Watch your AWD monitor for those that have AWD, you will learn more about how the system works in one or two drives than anyone @ Ford can tell you......not just a snow or loose surface system.

The AWD also gets you a much better tracking vehicle in addition, mine is very stable and well stuck whether braking or accelerating in a turn. Some may think this is not important, this is not a track vehicle etc., If you have ever had to take evasive action at freeway speed to avoid a collision, that is where the better suspension pays off. My truck is stable and predictable in handling.

Get the truck YOU need and want, not the one someone else says you need.

+1. This thing is pretty damn fun in corners considering it's better planted compared to a "real" truck given it's unibody and the stiff suspension.

I have an XL w/ 4k tow package, co-pilot package. I just came back from a road trip from Texas to San Francisco put about 4000 miles on it was amazing. Drove through the desert then down the coast was amazing love this truck, if the tremor comes out in 23 I may just be ordering another.

Looks like I don't have much of a choice. Wife is pushing really hard for a popup camper to use between now and our goal of a full size truck and 5th wheel.

Now to decide if I want FX4 or a sunroof!
