Got a text from my dealer today, said Ford requested a copy of my drivers license along with my original build sheet. Today is one month and a day since officially placing my order. I asked if he had any info on production scheduling for me and he didn't know and said it's basically a guessing game at this point.

I ordered the Lariat hybrid so based on what I've seen here it seems mine may be delayed regardless, and I'm fine with waiting as long as it's within reason. My question is, is there anything in the production process that would prompt Ford to request this information today? Does this signify any particular phase of ordering/production I've possibly reached?

Its possible they are trying to convert reservations (what you submit through the ford website) into orders, which I have been told requires the license and signed DORA.

My dealer wanted a copy of my driver's license at the time I ordered.

My dealer wouldn't submit anything to Ford until they had my deposit and copy of my DL. Hoping for your sake (again, hybrid, so maybe you'd be waiting anyway) that they for sure submitted your order a month ago..

Deposit is optional by the dealer

My dealer requested my DL and deposit prior to ordering. Dealer advised me they use a service to "place" their orders as this frees up time for their dealership staff. One day after ordering I received an email from the dealer's ordering service providing me confirmation and "acceptance" of my order. They also provided me a tracking number, but no dates thus far. It has been 11 days. Does this sound common to anyone else (thee dealer using a ordering service?) Thanks.

The dealership that took my order requested a drivers license and had me sign a copy of the DORA, along with $100 deposit. It wasn't long afterwards I received the VIN. The dealer manually sent/triggered the Ford confirmation email with the VIN number. The DORA sheet also had the Order code. The two items most important to track your order are the VIN and Order code. If they can't produce the VIN, then it could be they finally placed the order recently.

My dealer is 4 hours away and did not request a deposit or anything. The entire order was done via text/email.
I paid no deposit and am getting 4% under invoice with the truck being delivered to a delership 45 minutes from me. Go team @Dealerinsider ! Cost me an extra 200$ for the CD but Tom’s wife assures me he married up.

(Just kidding no idea if he is married or anything not my business to know) but ladies, if he is single ( or if he swings the other way gentlemen) then he should be a catch

And also, the dealership made of copy of the original build sheet I printed from home after choosing my options.

I didn’t think you got a VIN until you receive the scheduled for production email from Ford…. That’s when I got mine.

From what I understand, Ford wants dealerships to verify the identity of the person placing the order before it goes into the system. Their goal is to make sure that an actual person is ordering the vehicle (not fake orders made by dealerships) and that the order goes to the person who made it. I guess they had tons of problems with dealerships placing orders with made-up names and people making orders, but their vehicle going to someone else.

I find it interesting that some people had to put a deposit down on their Mavericks and some have not ( I did not have to) but did supply them with a copy of DL. Still haven't heard about production or VIN oh well, just will keep driving the Boxster until the Maverick shows up.

Did you get the "Order Confirmation" email from Ford a month or so ago?
No, and he told me that not every customer gets one of those emails and that people the internet have been obsessed with whether or not they're getting them ever since they started taking orders for the new Bronco.
