Actually it's Sport Light Utility Truck (S.L.U.T.)
Kind of reminds me of the old Chevy LUV (Light Utility Vehicle) I owned back in the 70s. Single cab, four on the floor and would beat you to death with it's rough ride. I loved that truck. Drove it until a coolant leak caused the head to warp. Traded it for a Honda 750 four motorcycle, which I promptly wrecked and decided (ie my wife decided) that motorcycles were not my thing.

Nah.... That's dumb marketing. I'm actually somewhat serious.
The Maverick is a Sport Utility Vehicle with a bed stuck on the end. Sport Utility Truck combines a familiar "SUV" (Ford Escape/Bronco Sport) and puts a (Truck) bed at the end.
You can call it a truck. I don't care. I'm not trying to make it sound cooler than it is. It's not exactly a UTE (sedan with a bed attached). It's not a body on frame truck. I HATE trucklette. Pickup is fine, I guess.
But I think SUT accurately describes the Maverick.
Either way, I'm happy with mine. You can call it the flying spaghetti monster, for all I care. It's my vehicle of choice and I'm loving it.
SUVs have been called SUVs regardless of if they have a frame or not (at least until someone decided to call the lifted AWD wagons out on their BS and dubbed them crossovers). Also the Maverick isn't the first unibody truck.
