So I debated back and forth. I have body on frame trucks and the Mav was basically to have a car like vehicle with better fuel economy and more suited for dd stuff like groceries, kids etc

Side swing tailgate would make it more functional for me. As is kids can’t grab their stuff from bed without help. Plus the Bronco Sport storage area is more secure.

this thing feels like a car with a bed which I guess is what I signed up for.

Actually test drove a Bronco Sport at my selling dealer. Red, just the color I wanted. Would have fit my Great Pyrenees too ...... No mark up (believe it or not) ...... However, I really wanted one with the hybrid drivetrain. The Mav made it happen. If Bronco Sport had the hybrid system the Mav has, I would have considered it ...... but I know price would have been much more.

We test drove a Badlands to get a feel for the Maverick 2.0 It was nice but the space just wasnt there that we need. It was either a Bronco 4 door or a Maverick. As cool as the sport is it just wouldnt fit us. And we would have needed the Badlands which is too expensive. Really when Granger came out with their $3000 off it was just perfect. $27k for a XLT FX4K. Very choice.

I had one on order and it got delayed and delayed and lost at one point in a holding lot waiting for chips. I never really wanted a turbo engine and then the Maverick was released and I researched the hybrid a bit. I converted the order at the dealer (canceled and re-ordered). Best decision I've made in a long while. A great fit for my needs and the economy to boot.

Interesting post for me. I bought an new Escape off the lot in 2020 and started having intermittent misfire issues in the first 2000 miles; diagnosed as a bad fuel injector. Warranty repair but no parts were available so Ford repurchased it in October 2021. I wanted a Bronco Sport but no stock was available and order lead times were predicted to be >6 months. Dealer suggested I look at the Maverick instead - October EB order should deliver in January (Ha!).

My Oct 4 Maverick Lariat EB order is supposed to go into production this week. I have to think I could have ordered and received a Bronco Sport in less than 10 months, so, yeah, I do kinda wish I had ordered it instead.
I like the 2L EB Maverick base engine much better than the Bronco Sport’s 1.5L. That makes me feel a bit better about waiting. If the 2L engine was available on mid-tier Bronco Sport models I probably would have already canceled the Maverick order in favor of a Bronco Sport.

One is a SUV, one is a PU truck. Pick the one that works best for you.

Simple?

The combination of hybrid, price, 4 doors, and being a truck made the Maverick pretty much a no brainer for me.

If hyrbid wasn't an option, I may have gone with a Santa Cruz or not changed vehicles at all, but the Maverick has a huge advantage with the hybrid option.

EDIT:
To me, comparing the Mav to a Bronco is an apples to oranges comparison, as others have pointed out.
The question is comparable to 'Anyone regret not getting any other vehicle?'

If bronco had hybrid id consider it.

Knew i wanted electric/hybrid for my next car, and mav was the only one that met that at a reasonable price point.

Nah I didn't want the chick/too-impatient-to-wait version of the real Bronco.

My father in law, who is a mechanic at a Ford dealership, says to avoid anything with the 1.5L like the plague. That means I'd have to start at the Badlands, which is considerably more than I want to spend.
