Hi,

I plan on ordering a Maverick when orders start again, but I have some questions on some items that people that have had truck previously could give me some guidance. My truck will be my daily driver and I will keep some tool bags I use for work in the bed of the truck. Other than that general use. No frequent heavy loads but occasional trips to home depot, dump, etc.

First is bedliner? Drop in? Spray In? Bed tray liner? what are the pros/cons of each and is aftermarket a better bet. I'm leaning towards the Spray in but have no clue.

Second is the the tonneau cover. Leaning towards the hard roll up. I think it would provide a little better security. Any better for water? security? Ease of use? Etc? Does aftermarket have better options? What if I want to use a rack with any of these? Currently, I use a roof rack for my kayaks, Canoe or paddle board. I can just order the roof rack and not worry about a bed rack but didn't know if a bed rack would be better.

Any other accessories that are a must or very nice to have? Fender flares? Tailgate Spoiler? Etc. Aftermarket options are fine as well.

Thanks!

For me I will be going with aftermarket spray in bed liner, Ford bed mat, a TruXedo pro x15 soft rolling cover and Ford all weather floor mats.

There's a post on here from Realtruck all about the pros and cons of tonneau covers, I recommend reading through it. I would also recommend getting both the tonneau cover AND the bed liner (no matter which you choose) after the fact. I went with line-x which was about the same price as the factory spray in bedliner but has a lifetime warranty. If you decide to go with a drop in bed liner from ford which is actually pretty cost effective, you can use the $210 worth of ford pass reward points you'll get from purchasing your vehicle to purchase it after you buy your truck at almost half off.

I also paid significantly less for a hard roll up tonneau from realtruck than what Ford charges from the factory for a hard roll up tonneau. Also, a bed liner and tonneau ordered from the factory stand the chance of delaying your order. Basically, any accessories you can put on yourself or pay to have someone install do not order from the factory unless you don't care about delays.

Hard roll-up is a great option. Easy to open/close and definitely much more secure than a soft roll-up/folding cover. Sure it could be damaged enough to break into the bed, but I think if someone was willing to go to that much effort, they are probably just going to smash a window and open the bed. You'd need some heavy tools or blunt objects to break my truxedo sentry ct.

My Sentry CT is compatible with a rack setup, you'll probably just have to do more research as time comes to buy - pick something that is compatible with a rack system and you'll be good.

Spray-in bed liner is really nice, but if it is still a constraint I would give just a good floor mat/cover a go first. That is what I had in my Ranger and in retrospect it was enough for me. If you're putting a lot of outdoor things (dirt, mulch, etc) in the bed regularly then spray would be the right option, otherwise a mat will do just fine. It was part of my lux package and no complaints, but if I didn't go lux I would've been happy with a solid heavy mat too.

Other stuff? Mostly cosmetic. I've upgraded some of might lights to LED (Lasfit), the white/amber DRLs are great. Everything else is just what you might like personally. I've added the @Buschur intake, thinking about an exhaust as well (neither of which I have done on any vehicle before).

I'm a fan of the spray in liner, especially if your hauling away demo debris or other hard, scratchy things (e.g. wood with nails stuck through.) I think they're worth it but a cheaper solution could work fine.

I'm also partial to the soft folding bed covers because A) they cost the least and B) they are easy as pie to install and, more importantly, take off if you want to maximize bed space. Anything that is more or less permanently installed is going to take up space when open. They're obviously not as secure as hard covers but I don't keep anything back there usually, and rarely anything of real value.

Aftermarket on tonneau and Bedliner . I like drop in Bedliner . one thing you should order from the factory is the hitch. Doesn't matter if ordering hybred/ eco get factory hitch .

I got factory spray in bed liner and it seems pretty good. Actually holds items fairly well, not too much rolling around back there. Have yet to have problems getting stuff out of the bed. first time ever lol this truck is the perfect size

Agree on the spray in. If you add the Lux package the bed liners come with. No one is sure yet on 2023.
My F150 got the Line X going on 12 years perfect.

Never had a tonneau cover to date. Maverick will get one (still waiting) so no opinion from me on that.

Any problems with soft bedliners and snow?
I work 2 overnights a week, where it will be outside at night, otherwise it will be garaged the other 5 days a week.

Do drop in bedliners have any problems with moisture getting caught underneath it causing accelerated corrosion?

One-My truck came with the spray in bedliner which is pretty cool, but in the bottom of the bed I wasn't sure about the durability of dragging heavy objects over it. So, I picked up the hard bed tray and tailgate cover from Ford. It is an easy install and fits over all the hooks. you just need torx 20,25,30, and 40 to do the install. I am happy with both.

TWO-I don't do Tonneau covers, but I would get the hard Tonneau with a key and don't forget the locking tailgate feature.

OPTIONAL-Bug shield to prevent paint chips on the hood. Ford sells a decent one. Again easy to install. A mini 4 inch antenna, Just in case the garage door is hanging low. The bushwacker fender flares look a bit beefy. Good for the woods. There is a less beefy set that hugs the wheel wells for us City boys. lol! I did get the all weather mats and mud flaps as part of the package. I don't know if the mud flaps install with the fender flares or they would be in the way. If you pick up any optional items From your dealer within a month of getting your truck, sometimes they give you the new vehicle accessory purchase price which is 10 or 15 percent off.

A good reason to get the spray in bedliner and then look at your options.

Wish I would have waited and ordered the weather tech floor mats, they have a bit more coverage up the sides than the ford mats.

Thanks for the info! I definitely planned on mudflaps and all weather floor mats. I didn't think about getting it sprayed and using drop in, seems like a good combo.

I do like weather tech. Have them in my current suv but I'm going to use the Ford pass points to get the Ford ones.
