There is no "Ford" involved here. there are just dealers.
The gas is paid where the delivery occurs. so I assume the dealer Chapman will reimburse the gas he added in teh quote when the delivery is done using a CD. He adds that line because he does not know yet who will pick it up locally and who will be shipping it.
I assume similar to what would happen to registration fees when it is not registered in Pennsylvania
I understand that and that`s why I said we may need Tom to chime in on this discussion about the fuel fill up. Thanks for your input.

The fuel charge on the invoice is the charge for the less than 1/4 worth of fuel we get when the vehicle gets delivered to us from ford...

The dealer is then on the hook to fill up the tank with no reimbursement...that is why the CD drop ship wont fill your tank...it is normal procedure to charge for fuel for a CD drop ship

Tom,
While we have you online, can you explain the rest of the drop ship process?

Specifically what exactly will the Drop Ship Dealer do? I see there is a fuel charge. Will they do the PDI? Who does the ream of paperwork involved? What about extended warranty and maintenance, who will offer those and at what point does that get discussed? Since in my case the Florida Dealer will be doing my tag and registration for for me, your email concerning pricing states "4% under plus tax/tags and $394 PA Doc Fee" do I have to pay the PA Doc Fee since the vehicle will not enter PA?

Lots of questions, I apologize up front.

I know you Tom don`t have anything to do with what Ford does, but really a 1/4 worth of fuel in a 16.5 gal gas tank for $57.42. What are they putting in it rocket fuel ? They get you one way or another. Thanks for explanation on how we get our tanks filled up the rest of the 3/4 of the way.

Hello Tom another question about the CD.

How does the deposit we pay for shipping from the CD dealer back to your dealership if we don’t take delivery of the Maverick get charged?

Do we pay this fee upfront to you before the vehicle is shipped from the factory?

When we do accept and take delivery of our built and shipped Maverick how do we get the deposit back? Thanks

I just scheduled a CD for my order with Tom and Steve. Steve said they will ask for the deposit when the order is scheduled for production. The deposit gets applied against the purchase price when you buy it.

How do you get the deposit back when you accept your truck when it comes in. Thanks

I'll reply just from my experience, both with Tom and on other vehicles I purchased from out of state.

If you are picking up, Chapmans will process the paperwork for the title/registration where you live, at least they did for me as have other vehicles I have purchased from out of state. There may be some additional work to be done once you get back home.

It's deducted from the bottom line that you owe Tom. Let's say you purchase the Maverick for $30,000. You have to pay $1,000 deposit. At the end of the day, you owe Tom $29,000 because he already has $1,000. Make sense? The only other explanation would be if he takes a check and tears it up.

The CD that I spoke with yesterday said that the dealership that I bought it from had charge me for the fill up when they sold it to me and they the CD would not take care of the gas fill up. He said that dealer had already been paid for it not the CD. Here is a picture of the charge for $57.42 on my invoice from Chapman Ford. I guess we need to have Tom chime in on this question on who will pay for the fill up since we had paid him for it already . Thanks

Please remember that "ALL DEALERS" get reimbursed the fuel charge from FORD after the vehicle is sold, therefore No One should pay the fuel charge. If they want to charge me and demand I pay, then I'll drive it out empty and fill up the truck my self.

I prefer to drive it out with fumes. That way I can fill it with Ethanol Free instead of having to burn a tank of Regular 87 Octane.
I have already discussed not washing and detailing it. He told me they run them through the automated carwash. That's the last thing I want, all the swirl marks added to the paint job. I don't want to have to correct the paint before ceramic coating it.

Did you read what Tom`s answer was above ? Here is what he said : He said there NO reimbursement from Ford on any fuel. It`s on the dealer that you bought the vehicle from not the CD drop ship dealer.

Yea I hate car washes with spinning brushes or strips of cloth or whatever they are dragging across your paint after how many other dirty cars it washed before making swirl marks galore. Even hand washed cars at the dealership by a low paid employee scratching my new paint up. No thanks.

I do my own paint correction and the final step is ceramic coating.
