I expect the truth will be known soon as we have more owners reporting and if normal or something that can be addressed and improved via update to software or mechanicals. I tried to do a little research on the topic and came across some tesla articles but didn't digest the info yet. I do have a john deere tractor with hydrostatic transmission and works great on lawns and hills. But not sure how I would feel about my hybrid responding this way on a highway level straight of wayYes to both of you, it feels like that. As soon as I take my foot from the gas I see the battery charging starts and the truck slows down much much faster than a gas vehicle. I have to say that I really need to get used to this. I actually even thought that something would be off with my truck but on the other hand they took it on a 25 miles ride at the factory to test drive it, so I assume things are the way they are supposed to be.
Interesetingly, my colleague asked me today if it would drive like a tesla which according to him drives like a gocart: as soon as you take your foot off the gas it signifficantly slows down and my answer was yes.
