Hey everyone,
My name is chinoxl3, and I own a 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo in Shadow Black. This is my first Maverick, and I’m really enjoying the aggressive street-truck vibe — the lowered stance, sporty suspension, bold wheels, and torque-vectoring AWD.
When I started the build, my goal was to make the truck my own without going too far or adding too much that it felt exaggerated. I wanted to enhance the factory Lobo look while keeping it tasteful and functional.
Some Quick Specs:

Mods Installed So Far:
- Air Design Hood Scoop (color-matched) – Ford
- Air Design Roof Spoiler (color-matched) – Ford
- Air Design Tailgate Spoiler (Satin) - Ford
- Rough Country Fender Flares (color-matched) – Rough Country
- Bonoss wheel spacers: 2” (50mm) rear and 1.5” (40mm) front – Bonoss
- Gorilla Lug Nuts (14x1.5 M14) – eBay
- Falken Wildpeak A/T tires in 235/55R19 (replaced the stock Goodyear tires) – Tire Rack I swapped them because I didn’t like the stock look and the truck slipped during a hard stop on the highway. After reading other forums, the stock tires aren’t the strongest performers. I also plan to do some light off-trail driving in the Everglades, so I wanted something that works well on both pavement and dirt.
- Decals:
- Red Maverick emblem with claw strikes – Etsy
- Front and rear red Ford logo decals – Warehouse 13 Graphic Solutions
- American fender badge – Etsy
- Custom red “El Lobo” letters – Etsy
- Red Maverick tailgate letters – Etsy
- Side marker tints – Etsy
- Lanotech Tri-Fold hard tonneau cover – Amazon
- Husky floor mats – Amazon
- Red tire valve stems with Ford letters – Etsy
Planned / In-Progress Mods:
- Window tints
- 2025+ Ford Maverick EcoBoost 3" cat-back exhaust from Thermal R&D (now that it looks aggressive, it’s time to make it sound the part too)
- Side moldings (still researching options)
- Flush-mount tonneau cover (I bought the Lanotech as a last-minute purchase and plan to replace it with a flush model)
Things I Love About the Lobo:
- The grille looks meaner than on other Maverick trims
- Handling and acceleration are excellent for a compact truck
- Surprisingly good fuel economy on long trips
- The hard plastics scratch easily. I get why Ford used them on a value-oriented truck, but I wish higher-end models had better-quality materials.
- The Auto Start/Stop system (I wish there was a permanent off switch that stays off)
- You have to re-select your preferred drive mode (like Eco) every time you start the truck
Maintenance:
- I avoid automatic car washes now. After two visits, I noticed swirls and scratches, so I hand-wash it every 2–3 weeks with quality car soap and apply a ceramic detailer afterward. It stays clean and shiny even after Florida rain.
- I did my first oil change at 6,800 miles. I’m not waiting for Ford’s 10,000-mile recommendation — shorter intervals help prevent issues on the EcoBoost.
- I started with premium 93-octane gas but switched back to 87 due to recent price spikes.
Lessons Learned:
- I’ve learned not to listen too much to others when you have an idea. Go with it and try it out, as long as it’s safe.
- The most expensive option is not always the best. There are a lot of affordable items on Etsy and Amazon that work great at a reasonable price.
- Most of all, have fun taking care of your truck and making changes to it.
Thank you.
