AC Recirculation button

Why does my Maverick keep turning off the Recirculation when I clearly select it? I do not want to breath in exhaust fumes, nor smell the poop factory that I pass through every morning on I-35 close to the Trinity Bridge.

I do not like machines that think for me. Does anyone know why the recirculation turns off after about 3-5 minutes when I turn it on? Additionally is there anyway to change the behavior of the recirculation option?

I don't have the answer to your question, but I am pretty sure Dallas proper is the "poop factory" and that thing west of the bridge is just a treatment plant.

According to the manual: "Note: Recirculated air may turn off automatically, or prevent you from switching on in all air flow modes except MAX A/C to reduce the risk of fogging. Recirculation may also turn on and off automatically in various air distribution control combinations to improve heating or cooling efficiency".

Thank you, it was humid this morning, is there a way to trick it? Where is the sensor? I can turn on the recirculation if needed because of windshield fog myself, I do not need nor want Ford Nanny doing it for me.

Well, according to google: the temperature and humidity sensor for the automatic climate control is located in the overhead console, integrated into the black plastic housing just above the rearview mirror, often mistaken for a small speaker or sensor.

Based on his post it sounds like you can set it to Max AC and adjust the temp manually to where you want it.

It is for humidity control.

And yes I feel it is over-zealous too.

It won't change if you have A/C running. Does not need to be max A/C.

Just make sure it's not set to auto. I've never had my AC turn on by itself with this disabled.

tried auto on and auto off- AC still turns on, on it's own- may have to do with humidity sensor.

Sometimes I fight with it constantly turning on the compressor when I don't want the compressor on. It's hard to get just fresh air out the top vents without the system taking over doing anything, It annoys the hell out of me that the compressor wants to turn on when it's 50° out wasting fuel. I think Auto is the most useless. Pretty much never doing what I want it to do. My solution sometimes is just to shut the entire system off and open the windows. I would love it if there was a total manual override in the settings.
