I just ordered the hard quad cover for my 25. Thank you for your installation tips. I've never had a bed cover before so I assume that with the cover down and the tailgate shut there's no way to open it for security. I also assume that there's no extra locking mechanism.. just need to open the tailgate to flip open the cover?

The Mav is basically now o our only vehicle (sold off our EV for about what I paid for it) so it will be doing all of our around town stuff, road trips and any truck stuff we need. I figure having the cover in the back will add a lot of utility for us.

I like that the LEER is made in the USA and I also appreciate the quad fold design and 3-year warranty.
FYI the box mine came in had tag on multiple sides that had the model number HF650M Made in China on the tag

You might want to check out the reviews on Amazon's site, as one shows a photo of the package saying "Made in China". Wondering if that's how they were able to come down about half their previous price???? Still shows in the description that it's made in USA, is it really?

Leer has just expanded and is moving stuff around. Some versions of covers for some trucks are half price. It's possible that those that are on sale may be overstock or possibly were made in China prior to USA production. NOTE production date on pink tag shows 22-363 so must have been made on the 363rd day of 2022.

Nt thrilled if it from China but not a show stopper for me. Thanks for the heads up. We’ll see what ships.

Mine was delivered 3 or 4 days quicker than scheduled.
Yeah same, mine was delivered today. Installed it a bit ago.

Thanks, OP, for this thread, it made the install much smoother, took maybe 40 mins tops. See pic below (also, installed Mabett mud flaps).

Just a couple of questions
1) Do the clamps interfere with the factory tie down rail?
2) Can it be opened partially with just 1 or two panels folded?
Thanks in advance
John

Hey John

  1. Nope, the clamps and tie down rail are close but do not interfere with each other.
  2. There is a self-latching mechanism on the 1st (tailgate side), 3rd and 4th panels. The panels fold on themselves nicely and it allows it be partially open. If you wanted to drive the truck however, you'd want it all the way closed or all the way folded open. There are snap buckles by on top by the cab window where you would secure it if full folded open.

Any issues with the cover sliding? When I open mine all the way it shifts ever so slightly and then both back corners wont engage. I can push it to square it and then it is good again until I try and open it again.

Did you crank down all the side and front clamps or is shifting normal? I have the HF650M also.

You must not have the hold down knobs on the 5 inch hold down panel tight. I put enough weight on the 5" panel to compress the rubber seals flat so I could turn the hold down pretty much really tight without fighting the rubber seals during 20+ rotations.
Is the hold down bracket inserted in the rail and the interior end of hold down clamp NOT TOUCHING the underneath of the 5" panel as shown in installation page with the hashed circle showing that end of clamp not touching,?

I just finished installation of the Leer tonneau and your directions were very helpful.
One question, how is the rolled up putty used?

On mine I used a piece about the size of a pinto bean to fill the little rectangular gap underneath the aluminium rail that clamps to the plastic rail covers so water couldn't run into bed. It's located about six inches behind the rear of cab.

I have installed the Leer cover and it is pretty easy. The problem I am having is that the cover does not latch to the rails because the rails are too far apart. This is the same for all sets of latches no matter how I have squared it. Is anyone else having this issue and if not, could you do me a favor and post a picture of a latch and how far it goes under the rail?

The attached photo shows how far the latch extends under the rail and it’s like this for all the latches. The latch is fully extended. It is as if I will need a 1/16”- 1/8” spacer to push the rails inward into the bed so that the latches can slide under the rail.

Thank you in advance!

Took a couple of pics & verified my cover latches on both sides at multiple folds. On original installation one side didn’t, but I just squared it up 1/8”.

Thanks @Rcrew . None of the latches engage so I slightly adjusted it so that at least one of the rear ones engage. From your picture, it looks like the rail does not sit flush against the black plastic cap on the bed. Did you use a spacer? How did you get it to stay square?

Mine is currently installed flush (see attached), but that the top of the rail really needs to move inwards more.
