Assuming you already own another working vehicle, would you flip your Mav for a profit? Scenario: I bought my MAV @ Chapman 4% under invoice. I went to the parts department at the local dealer, and while I was waiting the used manager came up and said they would give me 2k over MSRP if I sold my truck.

After doing some quick rough math.

I would come out with a little over 2k profit after taxes paid.

It's not much, but I'm also on the fence about ordering a Hybrid, instead of sticking with my Ecoboost.

Thoughts?

Hold out for 4K if they are offering 2K. First rule of thumb when negotiating. He started at his lowest offer.

Nonetheless, for me, first brand new car in 27 years and mines a hybrid. No selling here.

Depends on what the other working car is, how much you can get for that, and which car you would rather have.

Personally, Id take the gamble of ownership. With rising costs of everything, who knows what future pricing of the Mav will be. Also if the magnesium shortage does become disruptive, and or if the Chip shortage persists/worsens you can bet the car will hold its value. Heck you might be able to sell it for the same cost and get into a newer Mav after a year or two.

When in doubt "pull the trigger"!

Good viewpoints so far. I figured worst case I'll call other dealers and see what they'd offer.

I do like the thought of the magnesium shortage making the value hold or go up.

I don't plan on flipping it for a few thousand, but who knows if the price is right.

Knowing that I can likely break even or even make a profit if I decide I hate my hybrid when it arrives next year did make putting down a $1000 courtesy delivery deposit on a sight unseen truck a lot easier to swallow.

That was my thought. What good is "more" money for the Maverick when you need more money for everything. October's inflation rate is 6.2%.

With the way things are going, if the Maverick is essentially a spare/2nd vehicle for you, I'd keep it until the hybrid orders open up next summer, then revisit the idea of selling it.
