Hello everyone. New 2024 owner and first time poster.
My 2024 Lariat hybrid is the first new vehicle I have owned in 27 years. I love this truck!
I do have a question that may be nothing but I want to lean on the experience and expertise of the group. At full stop, I sometimes hear a grinding noise that sounds like the pad/rotor contact one hears when coming off the brakes. Obviously, it is not the brakes (I assume) since I’m not moving. Is the sound coming from the electric motor system?
Thanks to all in advance.

I'd be willing to bet that is the sound of your ABS. Anti-lock brakes sound and act completely normal until a bit of wheel slide kicks in then the system starts pulsing the brakes giving that groaning or creaking sound. Haven't heard your sound myself so I can't guarantee but I'll bet that's what it is. Sometimes there doesn't even have to be ice on the road, if it's a little wet those strips of paint at crosswalks can be slippery enough to give a bit of wheel slide under braking.

Thank you for the response. The challenge with this is the noises occur at a dead stop.

Welcome, I'm a new owner as well and my first post was about this same issue at this thread: (5) Engine Lurching @ Idle | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions

also here: (5) Lurching while stopped | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions

Seems to be a fairly common issue. Took mine into dealer and they said everything is normal of course. Ohio winters are cold so not too excited about this mystery grinding for several months out of the year. Hoping this will get picked up in a recall eventually and if not, will likely sell before warranty is up.

I believe that this is normal. I’ve had other vehicles do that at a complete stop.

Mine also does this. Hybrid. 2500km on it. I am assuming it is normal until I hear otherwise. It seems to not do it once the truck gets warmed up driving around for a while.

Thanks to all for the responses. From the links shared by Bjorno, the other discussions were spot on to what I am experiencing. It seems that cold temperature is the factor that brings about this condition.
Thanks again for the assistance.

This is exactly my experience as well. Subtle grinding sound, occasionally from under hood driver side when idling after starting and driving short distance then stopping (say after pulling out of driveway and stopping at light 25 yards down the road). Will also occasionally feel a small lurch. Only seems to happen when cold (by California standards) 2024 Hybrid Lariat with less than 1,000 miles. Definitely keeping an eye on it.

I have this too on my new 2025 Hybrid. Only happens when I first start driving it and it’s below freezing after the truck warms up I don’t notice it anymore. I can even feel it through the break pedal.

I also notice this in my 23 hybrid at times; first starting out when temperature is near freezing-

No clue what causes it???
