Well, if 80% 65% of those orders taken are Hybrid, that's about 69,000 56,000 hybrid orders.
69,000 56,000 Hybrid
17,000 30,000 Ecoboost

If Ford can build 100,000 2023 Mavericks total, big IF, I know.. per Ford, they can build approx. 35/65 split
35,000 Hybrid
65,000 Ecoboost

Seems all Ecoboost orders should be buildable, pending further constraints of course, but it looks like only about half 62.5% of Hybrid orders would be fulfilled. Assuming my made up number of a total 100,000 2023 models is anywhere close. If Ford builds even less in total, then yeah, gonna be even more disappointed folks. Looks like a very good chance at Ford reopening books for Ecoboost models or simply getting as many buildable Ecoboosts to dealers as stock inventory.

Adding snip from Ford PDF.

*Silently grins as an EB order.*

Hopefully, Ford can get all of the orders built. Maybe they can shift some things around they had planned for another model that isn't as popular to get the Hybrids all built. I know the major constraint is batteries. Seems like an easy fix would be to just reduce the number of Escape hybrids if they aren't selling as quickly.

The 65,000 ecoboosts build would be tough considering all of the different constraints with the different packages. Unless they build mostly plain stripped down XLs

What? The 100,000 estimate was my made up number.. the 35/65 split is per FORD. So whatever Ford builds in total (be it 50,000 or 100,000) Ford is saying the split will be approximately 35% hybrid and 65% Ecoboost..

Ford has already produced over 100,000 2022 models, I don't think 100,000 is that unreasonable of a guess for 2023. Assuming 100,000, only about 35,000 can be Hybrid... what powertrain does that leave the remaining ~65% with?

Also, assuming 80% 65% of ORDERs are for Hybrid, that means Ford has only received customer orders for about 30,000 Ecoboosts. Ford will build way more than 30,000 Ecoboosts.. Ford will most likely build XLT Ecoboosts with limited options as dealer stock. They love XLT models, not XLs. Look at Ford XL/XLT split, only 15% XL compared to 59% XLT.

I wonder how many of these 86,000 orders are new vs 2022 rollovers.

https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2022/10/04/ford-sales-q3-maverick/69537684007/

From the Article

'Wild'

However, the little Maverick pickup surged from 506 vehicles sold to 13,049 in the one quarter alone.

Its order bank has shut down for model year 2023 and hasn't opened for 2024 yet.

"The Maverick has definitely hit a sweet spot with our customers," said Thad Szott, co-owner of Szott Auto Group that includes Szott Ford in Holly. "Demand is almost as crazy as toilet paper ahead of the lingering (COVID) shutdown. The 2023 models sold out in six days and we have more people asking about them every day in the showroom, via internet leads, text messages and Facebook messenger. This market is wild."

First-time pickup owners

More than 80% of Maverick customers are first-time truck buyers. And the top competitive conquests are coming from the Honda CR-V, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda Civic, Ford spokesman Said Deep told the Free Press. Nearly half of the small pickup trucks or 45% sold in 2022 were hybrid gas and electric, which Ford offers as a standard feature on the vehicle.

In addition, 62% of the Maverick buyers are new to Ford, more than one in three of them opting for hybrid, Deep said.

Maverick is turning at unprecedented rates on the dealer lots, in fewer than 10 days. And while the order banks are sold out, Ford will be shipping a supply of Maverick pickups to its dealers. If someone wants a Maverick, reach out and contact a dealer, Deep said.

"Our new orders for Maverick totaled more than 86,000 in September and we were open for less than a week," Deep said.

'An enigma'

Karl Brauer, executive analyst for the iseecars.com shopping site, told the Free Press, "The Maverick absolutely appeals to nontraditional Ford buyers. Of course itโ€™s the least expensive new Ford you can buy, which opens the brand up to younger, less-affluent buyers. And the Maverick offers excellent fuel efficiency, adding to its appeal for price-sensitive consumers."

He added, "Itโ€™s sort of funny when you think about โ€” the domestics have built their business model on selling high-priced, high-profit trucks and SUVs that werenโ€™t particularly fuel efficient. But the Maverickโ€™s low price and high fuel efficiency, combined with its truck body style, is an enigma in todayโ€™s market, and clearly one the market was waiting for."

Now Ford just needs to get those Maverick pickups built and delivered.

So maybe 3000 ish hybrids per month... not looking good. I hope Ford can address a solution to the proposed glut of EB's and limited hybrids, otherwise I will probably give up on this quest.

Wouldnโ€™t it be great if all of them got built. Ford has a real winner in the Maverick.
I just hope that my XLT Hybrid ordered on 10/12 /21 gets built on 10/10 like Customer Service told me on 9/30

Based on 10000 being produced a month once the holiday breaks are over, here is my napkin math on my chances of getting my Hybrid Maverick selected for production.

Total Monthly Production 10000
Hybrid Produced Monthly (35%) 3500
XLT Produced Monthly (59%) 2065
XLT Luxury Package Produced Monthly (30%) 619
Divided by 3100 dealerships leaves me with a 20% chance of getting selected for production
each month or once every 5 months

Of course, this is all speculation. But it does help set my personal expectations on how long it may take to be selected for production.

Well yeah, it would be quite amazing!

But looking at the numbers, there is simply no way. If Ford has ~56,000 Hybrid orders and can only produce 35% of the total as hybrids, that would mean Ford produces a total of 160,000 2023s. I just don't see that happening. Unfortunately we don't know what the commodity constraints are based on for a total number. We know the approximate percentage, but what that percentage is out of is everyone's guess.

This is the first time that I am aware of that Ford has actually divulged ANY information regarding how many actual Maverick orders there are. They never gave a number for MY22.

So, we know they will produce at least 115,000 MY22 Mavericks. Give this order number for MY23, it looks like Ford will likely be able to produce at least all the Ecoboost orders and leave themselves some room for fleet orders and dealer stock.

Hybrids are likely the biggest issue, given the popularity of the drive train and limited parts supply.

Will be another "interesting" year for the Maverick, that's for sure!

Ford spokesman Said Deep claims "over 86,000 Mavericks ordered" in September, presumably most during the short order window from 9/15-9/21.

Could be bad news for us Hybrid buyers if they're only making 35% of the 86K as Hybrids, but only if the order ratio being skewed as high as 80:20 Hybrid for MY2023 ends up being true.

Attached a monthly sales report from Ford that shows September having 3,154 Maverick sales with a YTD sales figure of 51,802. These would all be MY2022 order fulfillments since MY2023 is not yet in production.
